A dentist, Dr Wesley Corman, played by James Read, finds himself in a tight spot when his wife falls in love with another man and his father-in-law pressures him to pay off his gambling debts. Desperate to get out of his predicament, he devises a plan to murder his wife's lover and frame her for the crime. Enter Lieutenant Columbo, the shrewd and persistent detective in a rumpled raincoat, who begins to unravel the dentist's scheme. James Read is an American actor born on July 31, 1953, in Buffalo, New York. He is best known for his work in television, including roles in "North and South," "Charmed," and "The Mentalist."Read began his acting career in the late 1970s with guest appearances on various TV shows, including "The Love Boat" and "CHiPs." In 1985, he landed the role of George Hazard in the miniseries "North and South," which brought him widespread recognition and critical acclaim. He reprised the role in the sequels "North and South, Book II" and "Heaven and Hell: North and South Book III."Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Read continued to work steadily in television, appearing in series such as "Saved by the Bell: The New Class," "Charmed," and "CSI: Miami." He also had recurring roles in "Wildfire," "Ghost Whisperer," and "The Mentalist."In addition to his television work, Read has appeared in films such as "Beach House" and "Not Since You." He has also worked extensively in theater, both on and off Broadway.
