In " Publish or Perish", Riley Greenleaf (played by Jack Cassidy) is a publisher whose most valuable asset is his successful writer, Alan Mallory. However, when Alan Mallory decides to switch publishers, Riley becomes furious and threatens to take his life. To carry out his threat, Riley hires Eddie Kane, a Vietnam veteran, to kill Alan and frame Riley for the murder, knowing he has an ironclad alibi. Unfortunately for Riley, a crucial piece of evidence will ultimately lead to his undoing.
Jack Cassidy was an American actor and singer, born on March 5, 1927, in New York City. He began his career as a Broadway performer, starring in productions such as "Wish You Were Here" and "She Loves Me," before transitioning to television and film. Cassidy's most notable television role was in the series "The Partridge Family," where he played the character of Shirley Partridge's husband. He was also a frequent guest star on other TV shows of the time, including "Columbo" and "Mission: Impossible." In addition to his acting work, Cassidy was a skilled singer and appeared in a number of musical productions on stage and screen. He received Tony Award nominations for his performances in "She Loves Me" and "Maggie Flynn." Cassidy's life was tragically cut short when he died in a fire at his home on December 12, 1976.
